wheew ok so this past week was so very hectic for me. Along with these 24 credits im taking and my job in the womens center, i am also the Vice President of my Sorority (Zeta Phi Beta), and I took on a freelance job.. well, heres to time management! lol

so this past week was our Finer Womanhood Week. We had a program each night from Tuesday to Saturday. Tuesday we had a Entrepreneurship Event in which a speaker came and gave really good tips on how to “be your own boss”. Wednesday we just had a social event, a game night, Thursday we had a discussion based on comments from students around campus about relationships, Friday night we had a “Meow Mix-er” which served as a fundraiser. Cooked a huge meal and  served pizza.  Pizza cost one dollar and a dish of cooked food cost 3 dollars. We played music and it ended up being well attended and successful like the rest of the week. FINALLY on Saturday starting at 10 am we had to help our graduate chapter at a Red Cross blood drive until 1:30pm, from there we went to another community service until 4pm where we helped separate and organize food to be distributed to the needy. Then we finished the week of with a Successful party at 10pm done in conjuction with Sigma Lambda Upsilon Sorority. It like the rest of the week was a SUCCESS tons of fun and we made a huge profit.

now we can breathe… almost lol. Blue and White Weekend is coming up and i have a carnival to plan :).

so we decided to have a little competition of our own during spring break to generate some images to start the website off with. ended up being fun and im looking forward to doing it again.

school is back on monday.. yaay so we can start implementation then and possibly more design battles to be had.

Ok so last quarter we started our Team Projects, which is something like a senior thesis…? i guess you could say. We are given big projects to work on for the remaining two quarters. Last quarter was mainly the planning phase. Back end set up, User Interface design, Design comps for our target audience. We had two presentations due for our class and design documents to show our progress. I am the project manager of my group. I broke the team into two groups, the IT team and the Design team. each group has a director in charge of what i assign each group for that week. So far we have been doing a great job, we are actually ahead of schedule.  Check out the Project details on the Backhand Love page at the top of my blog.  

My grandmother passed on Tuesday. This has been very hard for me.. Wednesday was a career fair in NYC and on thursday i flew out to Florida for the wake and funeral. Seeing her in a casket… felt like i couldnt breathe. When i found out i was in lab working on some final projects since it is finals week, and i had a critique a 2pm. I didnt handle it very well, i needed a place to go so i  went to one of my teachers office she wasnt there. Instead another professor who heard me crying let me sit in his office. He told me a story about his daughter dying and then he said ”you must be strong and carry on, because its what they would want you to do” i kept that statement in mind during my Adv 3D critique a couple of hours later. Needless to say i wasn’t smiling but i was crying less. I imagined what my grandmother would do and being the strong women she is she would not skip a step even though grieving and I aspire to be as strong as my family and that got me through the day and the career fair. It was hard but i put my best foot forward and spoke to various companies.  In florida i was reunited with my cousin met an uncle for the first time. I didnt want to leave at a time like this all you want to do is be with family, I didnt want to let them out of my sight. and the whole ordeal hurt less with them there. But i had to go to back to Rochester and take care of some things in preparation for next quarter..im done talking about this. All i have to say is that i hope i make her proud. elle est aimée et elle sera manquée 

lol yes AUTRI.. question: Where did this come from? haha clearly AUDI. ok so here are the final .movs of the final project. “the devil is in the details” I actually had the light burst effect on the bullet so strong you cant tell that the bullet breaks away. You kind of loose the car bursting out of it. I had my friend critique it and he pointed it out to me. so i rendered two files. one shows the bullet breaking apart more than the other… to me it makes a world of a difference. check it out….break or blur … I say break.  

next move… submit project and add to my portfolio site.

ok so the car commercial is turning out nicely. I put all the rendered 3D together in After Effects and added some sound and video FX and . check it out…

So the visuals are cool but it still needs a lot more work to become a car commercial. I looked up some car commercials on YouTube to see what exactly my video is missing. Here is an example of one.

I noticed no matter the style of the commercial, whether its a comedy, sexual, foreign, etc. they all end the same way. Black background with the logo and witty line…

sooo guess thats where my commercial is headed next add background music, and an ending scene with a logo and a line… should be done very soon.. like tonight. wish me luck

This is why i love my major. 3am and instead of closing the lab, we throw on a movie to watch as we contine to model and code our brains to mush. 300 is on the screen, which is highly appropriate since right now im looking at a 300 poster on the wall that has been altered to say “TONIGHT WE DINE IN THE NML”. If you dont get it, go see the movie. (NML = New Media Lab)Right now im working on my 3D and my portfolio site simultaneously, and im not even tired. I can go all night and i believe i will. “Sleep is for those who have accomplished their goals”. –me. And seeing as how this project isnt done yet, no sleep for me. I also need to get a move on my experimental project. A compilation video of my musical friends and family… its fun to work on, when i take a break ill get on that…here is what i accomplished this session in lab… no i did not model the car! lol but i did everything else, altered the materials, added the lights, modeled the scenes. basically everything in this commerical is mine expect for most of the car model.now view the little snippet s’il vous plaît

So its 2:23am and here we are in lab. C’est la Vie de le New Media Student. haha..

I am just starting this blog, a record of my work, trials and tribulations. Its the end of week 10 here at RIT, finals is next week and im in my own personal hell called 22 credits. But im making it work. Currently my 3D is taking up most my time, it is due Tuesday and we’ve had roughly a week to work on it. But I am loving how its turning out…

The idea is a car commercial… a bullet shoots from a gun, the bullet rips through the air, then it starts to break away and eventually explode as a sleek car busts out from inside it. The car flys out hits the ground and eventually comes to a sliding stop after some interesting camera angles are shot.
